2026 Resolution - Get Involved

“Many hands make light work” is true for holding government accountability. And it’s easier to get involved than you might think – there are a lot of new people getting involved in Lakewood politics now. In 2026, don’t pound your fists in frustration; do one little thing to contribute to the solution.

1. Make a friend – you would be surprised at how fast you can be plugged into a whole new community and will have friends to talk to about issues that matter
2. Overcome your fears – most people stay silent out of fear of retaliation. This is legitimate but also life-draining. Start small but feel powerful.
3. Watch one piece of one city meeting – there are LOTS of city meetings. 
4. Communicate what you think about that meeting or share your opinion on what’s going. Lakewood Informer is here for your posts, and nextdoor.com allows many comments.
5. Donate time or money to a cause. 

(My resolution for the Lakewood Informer 2026 is to hold office hours to have more engagement opportunities. Do you know a good place to chat?)
