In single-digit temperatures Sunday morning, more than 300 residents gathered at Alameda International Junior/Senior High School to launch CBC Denver, a new community-focused church committed to serving the Lakewood and greater Denver area through connection, service, and long-term neighborhood involvement.
Located near the Belmar area of downtown Lakewood, CBC Denver meets at 1255 South Wadsworth Blvd. and holds weekly services Sundays at 10:00 a.m. The church is led by Pastor Casey Whithers and his wife, Hannah, and was planted to create a welcoming environment where people can build relationships, explore faith, and engage in meaningful service within the community.
CBC Denver emphasizes a servant posture and intentional community integration, with plans to partner with local organizations, support families, and meet practical needs across Lakewood and the greater Denver area. Its mission centers on creating spaces for belonging while contributing positively to the city through consistent presence and service.
Sunday gatherings include live worship, teaching from the Bible, and time for connection before and after services in the school courtyard. Parking teams assist guests with easy access to the auditorium, and stroller parking is available inside the building.
Families are a key focus of CBC Denver’s ministry. CBC Kids, offered every Sunday for children from birth through fifth grade, provides age-appropriate activities, worship, and Bible teaching designed to help children grow in their faith in a safe and engaging environment. Plans are also underway to introduce midweek programming for middle and high school students later this year.
CBC Denver launched with an already established local following and strong support from Community Bible Church in San Antonio, marking its first church plant while remaining locally led and deeply rooted in the Lakewood community.
